ABOUT ME

I am a senior civil-structural engineering expert with 31 years of extraordinary experience and excellent credentials, providing technical authority on all structural engineering matters related to heavy/process industry plants, buildings, and other facilities, in the form of: design peer reviews, QA and code compliance reviews, design scoping and technical guidance (especially seismic), forensic investigations of complex failures and troubleshooting, critical technical support of operations/maintenance and construction activities, and the restoration of damaged essential structures. A remote or hybrid position is preferred. In addition to my BS degree in Civil Engineering from LSU, I hold two master's degrees: an MS in Management from Boston University and an MCE (Master of Civil Engineering) from NCSU. I have multiple international professional credentials (PE, SE, CEng, EUR ING, MIStructE, LEED AP) and have worked in the USA, Europe, and the Middle East.My personal ethos is that engineering ethics are paramount to safeguard public health and safety. I’ve also been an active volunteer with Engineers Without Borders since 2009, contributing with structural reviews for humanitarian projects, mostly in Africa and South America. Most recently, I've had 18 years of extraordinary experience as a subject matter expert (SME) in structural engineering at Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest energy company (US$ 1.5 Trillion), all based on USA and international codes and standards, with senior roles in all structural engineering matters related to the company’s heavy industrial, oil & gas facilities and buildings, including:- authority on structural engineering codes, standards, and specifications,
- mega-project structural design criteria scoping and guidance,
- expert, advanced-level reviewer of structural calculations, models, drawings, specs, and reports for: mega-project quality assurance “QA” and code compliance, forensic investigations, peer reviews, and special studies,
- expert in the seismic design of buildings and other structures per IBC/ASCE 7,
- forensic investigations for complex structural failures and troubleshooting,
- critical technical support for operations, T&I’s, maintenance, and construction activities,
- rehabilitation and/or restoration of deteriorated, post-fire, post-bombing, or otherwise damaged structures,
- holistic approach and coordination with other disciplines (piping, vessels, equip., etc.),
- representing Saudi Aramco with world-renowned engineering and construction firms, and
- structural design peer reviews of iconic structures related to the Saudi Arabian government.
Finally, I was raised in a family-owned general construction/mechanical contracting business, gaining early experience with: drawings, specifications, materials, packaged equipment, construction means and methods, coordinating contractors, use of heavy lifting and earthmoving equipment, safety compliance, inspections, bid estimating, contracts, billing, change orders, and managing a workforce.
